The BlackRock Global Allocation Fund (Aust) aims to maximise total investment return by actively investing in global equities, debt and short-term securities. The Fund is not constrained by asset allocation ranges or benchmarks and can invest in any asset class, anywhere, at any time. What is the Fund’s investment strategy? The Fund’s current investment strategy is to invest in global equities, fixed income and cash. The Fund aims to maximise total investment returns while managing risk and is generally diversified across markets, industries and issuers. The types of securities and markets the Fund invests in will vary in response to changing market conditions and economic trends. For example, the Fund may be substantially invested in US shares when they appear undervalued relative to other world share markets, while greater emphasis may be placed on fixed income securities when the risk of owning shares appears above average. This approach strives to achieve attractive total returns, while spreading the risks associated with investing in only one asset class or market. While the Fund can, and does, look for investments in all the markets of the world, it will typically invest a majority of its assets in the securities of companies and governments located in North and South America, Europe and Asia. In making investment decisions, the Global Allocation Investment Team aims to identify the long-term trends and changes that could benefit particular markets and/or industries relative to other markets and industries. What does the Fund invest in? The Fund invests in global equities, fixed income and cash. The combination is varied over time both with respect to types of securities and markets in response to changing market and economic trends. The Fund is highly diversified and typically holds over 400 securities. In most cases, no individual equity holding will represent more than approximately 1% of the Fund. About the investment team The Fund is managed the Global Allocation Team, headed up by Dennis Stattman. The Global Allocation Team is one of the most respected investment teams in the world and – during the 18 years they have managed global investment strategies – has delivered consistent returns with low volatility.
